Manhattan College IWPC is offering a week-long, professional short course in: Water Quality Modeling: Toxic Organic Contaminants and Metals

Topics covered in the course will include:

  • Monday - Introduction to Toxic Organic Contamination, Exposure Assessment Modeling
  • Tuesday - Site-Specific Modeling, Sediment Transport, Sediment Remediation
  • Wednesday - Water/Sediment Quality Criteria, Bioaccumulation/Human Health Risks
  • Thursday - Metals Speciation, Metals Bioavailability, Integrated Assessment Modeling
  • Friday - Mercury/Chromium Contamination, Metals Exposure/Human Health Risks

Course Instructors: Dominic Di Toro (University of Delaware), Kevin Farley and Richard Carbonaro (Manhattan College), John Connolly (Anchor-QEA), Dennis Suszkowski (Hudson River Foundation), Max Costa (NYU School of Environmental Medicine), Larry Sanford (University of Maryland), Paul Paquin and Robin Miller (HydroQual).

The course will be held on the Manhattan College campus and will consist of classroom lectures, case study presentations, and interactive computer sessions. Participants can sign up for the entire week or for specific days (see registration form for fees). Professional Engineers can also earn up to 32 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) toward their NYS PE license. Other professional can earn up to 3 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
